My name is Alexandra Beguez (sounds like Beh-gues). I'm a Cuban-American illustrator and cartoonist based in New Jersey with a love of extremely bright colors and cautionary endings. I fancy myself to be a bit of a mythographer; weaving tales of how and why things have come to be as well as giving my eclectic crew of characters a common, whimsical universe to inhabit. Themes that typically appear in my stories are: the inability to get what you want/need, loneliness, the fantastical, and unrequited sentiments. I work primarily in ink, gouache, silkscreen and digital to create my pieces.

I co-founded a comics collective that self-publishes a yearly anthology called Three-Armed Squid, themed around the magical number 4. Currently, I'm enrolled in the MFA Visual Narrative program at the School of Visual Arts.
